Wireless Broadband Connection
Wireless broadband
internet connection is the newest
technology that gives out high-speed internet connection over a
wide range of area in your region.

In short,
wireless broadband
connection basically means having a
large bandwidth to cover a wide range of area and is
quite similar to the features of a DSL and a cable modem. This
wireless broadband provides an internet connection that is over
100 Mbit/s while there are some internet service providers that
only have 30 to 50 M/bit/s.
There
are lots of technologies involved with this wireless
broadband. Wi-Fi hotspots are responsible for introducing the concept of
using your wireless broadband Internet connection outside your
residence. “Wi-Fi hotspots” is the term used for places where
your Internet connection could be used via a Wi-Fi access point
available locally. These are now commonly found in restaurants,
cafes, hotels, etc. To enjoy the said service provided by WISPs or Wireless Internet Service Providers, you just need an Internet account with the
specific provider, a PDA, laptop, etc. that has built in Wi-Fi.
The latest technology to come out is the WiMAX
(Worldwide Interoperability for
Microwave Access). WiMAX will deliver
extended broadband beyond Wi-Fi. It is not restricted to
hotspots. The speed is similar to DSL or cable and WiMAX allow
you to access all the data-intensive applications, such as
streaming media on the Internet, live video conferencing and
mobile TV.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Wireless Broadband
The main advantage of using wireless broadband to connect
to the Internet is the fact that you will be able to take your
Internet connection anywhere you want.
Wireless broadband are also advantageous in terms of
providing high speed internet access without the sometimes
“irritating” wires or cable infrastructure that makes the place
look clutters. Another advantage is its versatility in terms of
providing good service not only to lightly populated areas, but
also to highly populated areas. The cost involved in setting up
a wireless broadband is also cheaper than setting up “wired
broadband. “
It is also very important to know that wireless broadband
services also have their disadvantages such as: limited
availability, security issues regarding wireless broadband
technology, and technical knowledge is needed to be able to
set-up the wireless network completely.
